Read the Endangered Animals Unit Packet that is being sent home to the parents of the 6th graders that are in the classrooms you work with. All of the students will be working on this research unit for the next six weeks, including the classes that Mary, Henry and Marty are in, students that are on your caseload.
You are responsible for making sure that all of your students are successful, to the best of their ability and skills, at all curricular work. To do so, your first task is to determine the tasks your students must complete in this unit. So you must complete a task analysis of this unit. I am not asking for a breakdown of each minute but what are the major steps that must be completed? Submit a list of what you think they might be. I consider this to be the hardest part of this entire project that we will be working on for much of the rest of the term so do not get frustrated if I send it back and ask for more or different ideas! This is a learning project!! This is the one project where you may have multiple submissions.
.
You will begin to complete the Resource Plan Template. You have identified the Activities that are going to be completed. Fill in that column. Now you get to start thinking about each of your three students. What potential barriers or missed opportunities for learning might they have for learning might they have because of their disability? Fill in that column. ALL YOU NEED THIS WEEK ARE THE POTENTIAL BARRIERS FOR ALL THREE STUDENTS – NOTHING ELSE! Refer to the Potential Barriers sample and the complete Resource Plan Sample to assist you in your work. Upload your Resource Plan Template to the Resource Plan Dropbox when you are complete.
Now that you have identified all 12 Activities and the potential barriers or missed opportunities for learning might they have it is time to determine what accommodations/modifications/UDL solutions are needed to make each student successful in the classroom.
